You probably have seen the Yin and Yang symbol. This simple symbol is not just black and white. It’s actually very sophisticated.

When you look at the symbol, it’s a combination of the figure that has big part that gradually becomes small part in one color and reciprocal part in another color and together it creates a whole circle.

Yin is dark, the black part. And Yang is light, the white part.

This shows there is always a movement and smooth transition and no matter where you are at, there is always the opposite side to keep the balance. Even when something is dominant, there is an opposing element in that dominance which is denoted by the small dot, which is like a seed that generates the new cycle in the opposite color. And the new cycle in the opposite color starts with a sliver.

Everything is temporary. The universe is always moving and flowing as things are expanding and contracting.

You can apply Yin and Yang Principles to all the living things and natural occurrences.

It also shows the connection of the living things in the nature. In fact, you can apply Yin and Yang in everything and one converts into another with certain conditions. Yin turns into Yang, and Yang turns into Yin.

For example, daytime is Yang and night time is Yin. You can even divide the Yang daytime into Yan in the morning and Yin in the afternoon. Yin night time can be divided into yin in the first half and yang in the second half. You can divide anything in the universe into Yin and Yang.

Up/Down, Left/Right, Action/Stillness, Out/In, Ascend/Descend, Day/Night, Light/Dark, Cold/Hot, Water/Fire… They look opposite of each other but at the same time universal. They actually support each other. This complementary relationship achieves unification via opposing side and if there is no opposing side you can’t complement. The nature and the world is made up of opposing yet complementary energy.

Humanity is the same. We grow as we complement each other and making our existence meaningful.

Everything in our lives can be applied to Yin and Yang. This applies to our body too. We cannot live without Yin and Yang. Within this balance of Yin and Yang, we can maintain our health.
