Palm Glide Shoulder

We’re going to do some shoulder massage but before we begin, do NOT do this move if the receiver is pregnant because there are two acupressure points on the top of the shoulders that would induce labor. So these points are to be avoided until after the due date.

Stand behind the partner sitting on the ground. Put your palms on the partner’s shoulders with the base of your palms facing each other. Using your body weight, press the shoulders as you glide with the base of your shoulders. Keep your arms straight but no locked elbows to maximize the use of your body weight. If the receiver wants more pressure, stand closer and lean in more.

Here are some variations. You can do one side at a time. Target the area slightly above and slightly below where you originally started. Pick several locations between the base of the neck and the shoulder bone to press using your body weight. You can also do one side at a time by rocking your body.

Double Thumb Knead Shoulder

This is what people often do to hurt their thumb. Let’s try the double thumb technique on the shoulder. Put one thumb on top of the other and knead the shoulder by picking up the shoulder muscles with both hands. Pick several spots and go back and forth between the neck and the shoulder bone. Repeat on the other side.
