Just as the natural elements, the organs have the Generating Cycle and Controlling Cycle. From now on, when I say an organ, I'm referring to the energy of the organ, not the physical organ. When I refer to a physical organ, I will mention physical organ.

As an example, we will look at the solid organs.

Generating Cycle of the Organs

In the Generating Cycle, Liver generates Heart. Heart generates Spleen. Spleen generates Lung. Lung generates Kidney. And Kidney generates Liver.

We also refer to this relationship as Mother-Child relationship in which the "mother" element nourishes its "child" element. In this cycle, Liver is a mother to Heart. Heart is a child to Liver. Heart is a mother to Spleen. Spleen is a mother to Lung. Lung is a mother to Kidney. And Kidney is a mother to Liver.

Controlling Cycle of the Organs

In the Controlling Cycle of the organs, following the arrows in a star shape, Liver controls Spleen. Spleen controls Kidney. Kidney controls Heart. Heart controls Lung. And Lung conrols Liver.

This relationship is referred to as Grandmother-Grandchild relationship since it's skipping a generation. In this cycle, "grandma" element gives a chekcs and balance or "tough love" to the "grandchild" element so the grandchild behaves well.

You do not need to remember this chart, but please remember the Mother-Child relationship in the Generating Cycle and Grandmother-Grandchild relationship in the Conrtolling Cycle which will be used later.

Each organ has characteristics and the symptoms associated with them. We will look at each organ and explore the characteristics and symptoms.
