Not all 361 acupuncture points are used even at an acupuncture clinic. There are 5 different groups of important acupuncture points which are used more often for specific purposes.

5 Major Groups:

- Primary points- Connecting / Network points- Cleft points- Front-mu points- Back transport points

Instead of covering all the acupressure points, which will take years, we will cover the Primary points.

Why Primary Points?

Primary points are also called Source points. Of these 5 groups, Primary points are the ones we focus since these have the most energy from the organs. Even if you don't know any other points, knowing the Primary points will help you take care of your health. These are the ones that balance out the energy of the organs to achieve homeostasis - it raises energy if it's too low and lowers the energy if it's too high. The primary points are very powerful points.

Each of the 12 meridians has one Primary point for the corresponding organ. Just as there are different roles in a company, each acupressure point has different roles for the meridian. The primary point is like a manager in charge of receiving a message from the organ and sending a message to the organ.

Besides being the messengers to specific organs, Primary points in Yin meridians have “healing” elements. They help heal intangible things such as autonomic nervous system, heart, and stress. They are the ones that are fending the organs before the invisible issues like stress and mental illness reach the organs and the organs start showing symptoms. So this is the unique aspect of the Primary points of Yin meridians. They are like the CIA that’s overseeing the invisible threats.

On the other hand, Primary points on Yang meridians are more like the police or FBI overseeing the visible issues.

Also, Primary points are located on your limbs so they are easily accessible by yourself unlike the acupressure points on your back. These are the points that my mentor acupuncturist would tell his patients to press at home in between their appointments.

I have covered various acupressure points on my YouTube channel but they are more for temporary solutions. If you use these Primary points, you will be able to build a strong foundation for a long-term health and prevent the issues that you commonly have.
